 Edinburgh Athletics Club

When I moved to Edinburgh last July I started going to sessions at Edinburgh Athletics. In Lancaster I used to go to Lancaster and Morecambe AC where my little sister Lily now runs with the Junior Athletics. The majority of Edinburgh Athletics sessions are held in the Meadows, there is a women's group on a Wednesday and a mixed session on a Thursday and Saturday. There is a track session at Meadowbank on a Tuesday and a long run starting at Craiglockhart sports centre on a Sunday. I usually go to the Saturday session which is a mixture of drills and fast endurance running. I find it really helps my running by training with other people. The Saturday morning session really pushes me as there are such fast, focused runners, it is certainly a challenge keeping up with them! These photos are from the McDonald Trophy 4km cross country race I did last October. I have started going to the women's running group on a Wednesday. The session starts with a warm up run around the meadows followed by a fast paced run such as running fast for 30 seconds then jogging for 30 seconds for 2 miles. The sessions really push my endurance and I usually need a rest the following day or a swim to stretch and relax my muscles.

SAMH t-shirt and fundraising pack

My SAMH t-shirt and fundraising pack arrived in the post! So far I have raised £25 for SAMH but I'm sure more funds will come in as the race approaches and the fundraising pack has lots of good ideas to help me raise more money. I'm looking forward to wearing the t-shirt as I train and on the day of the Edinburgh Marathon to positively promote mental health.
